Gas Tank / pressure issue

has a issue last night. last couple days has been over 100 here in Ohio. and i was coming off freeway onramp when i started to smell Gas. then @ traffic light people that were behine me said i was leaking Gas. so i stopped and checked and sure enough when i looked @ Gas cap i could see a little gas..... but when i started to take off the cap there was alot of pressure. i heard vapers releasing.

my tank wasn't overfilled @ all and @ time i had already driven 40+ miles w/ my yj is thats almost 3 gallons of gas used. so it has me a little worried.

has anyone else had this issue? if so shoul i be worried & have any sugestions on what i can do.

thanks

Your vented cap is not venting... time for a new one.

Just my first thought; could be something else, but I would suspect that, and the noise you heard was actually an intake of air into the tank.

Very typical failure.

I have that same trouble, going right for the worst case scenario. But over time I have learned to focus on the verify and hope for cheap and easy fix.

Worse case we're wrong and you have something else; but there really isnt any other failure that would keep the system sealed like that

well got a new cap on and seemed everything was fine till last night......again another hot day. got home about 5:30pm. then about 7:30 went into garage smelled alot of Gas so went right to my jeep. released gas cap and had alot of pressure built up in it again. looked under jeep and on driver side i see gas on floor and skid plate. was trying to find out where it was comming from but not very easy w/ that plate on. seems like maybe leaking from neck going into tank but alittle strange that if there was a hole or anything like that that i had a ton of pressure release when i took cap off.......

after i released pressure wasnt leaking anymore... any other ideas/sugestions? right now i have it parked and driving my car since incase of something major dont want to risk it.

thanks again
