Good Bye Rubber Boot!

Well I finally got the Duplicolor bed liner done. So it was time to install the "Leather Shifter Boot". I was tired of fighting shifting into 4W LO with the rubber one. I just had to remove the rubber boot from the retainer ring and used 3M double sided foam tape to attach the leather boot. Used a hole punch to cut the screw holes in the boot. Pretty simple.

Also got the Smittybilt locking console in while I was at it.

Pretty productive weekend!

Looks good! How do you think it will hold up to moisture compared to rubber?

Well I think it will hold up. Hell bikers have been using/abusing leather for years. My dirt bike boots have been beat on and abused and are still in good shape.

I just sprayed it with a conditioner and that should be it. Worst case...maybe I have to change it in 10 years! I'll worry about it then.

Very hot and love the wheel too, been looking at buying one myself. I think it's a shame the only thing Jeep has been missing is just a little leather, lol.

First saw it on jeepforum.com. Here's the link.

Jeep Wrangler 1987-95 shift boot - RedlineGoods leather shift boot store

If you're interested in getting one shoot Maciek (Mark) an email and tell him Glenn gave you his contact information. He asked me so send him some hi-res images of my install to use. I'm sure the Jeep market isn't huge but it's a source of revenue. Also ask him if there are any "promo codes" available. I'm sure he'll do something for you.

You'll love that storage console. I've got the same one. The only issue I ran into is the nut holding the latch arm to the lock inside the lid sometimes loosens. Just spend the extra $0.10 and put a second nut to lock em on there...

Funny you mention that...I already put a jam nut on to tighten it. I'm going to bend a couple brackets to mount inside (front and back) so I can have a tray up high (3" down) to make it more functional.
