Got a Jeep. Now what?

Hi folks, just picked up a '95 Wrangler YJ Sahara (4L, manual) as a bit of a fun / project vehicle, which is something I've been wanting to do since I first drove one in high school (which was a couple of reunions ago

So, besides the cheap / easy mods, what would be some of the first things / mods / upgrades you'd do to a "new to you" Jeep? (Other than the obvious things like fluid & filter replacements, hose & belt checks, etc, etc.) Tires are in good shape so those will stay as is for now.

The thing that's most important to me is having a rock-solid vehicle that's super reliable, especially in the crappy, snowy, cold winters we get up here. I don't care too much about looks right now. That will come later.

Google sea foam and wrangler, good to clean out all the carbon. Change the diff fluid, tranny, and transfer case fluid. Check floor pans for rust under all of the rugs.. Grease u joints and all possible grease points.

I'd replace all fluids with synthetics (including diff fluids/t-case), then decide what your goal is long term. You're going to be a lot better off if you read and ask questions here and then come up with a long term plan instead of hodge-podging ideas together (as I have in the past and screwed myself doing it).

Running smooth

Thanks for the suggestions, folks.

I've got all the fluids replaced, done a nice engine flush, replaced the windshield, added a K&N airfilter and Fluid Film'd every squeaking hinge and the door locks.

The back wiper isn't working so I'm going to have to figure that out. It might have something to do with all the random wires in the back that don't seem to go anywhere...

It looks like the rad's going to have to get replaced, there's not many fins that aren't squished in. I also realized it doesn't have a block heater (at least it doesn't look like it) so that's a pretty important next thing to do. The spare tire is also a totally different size than the other ones.

Other than that, it's running really, really smooth.

I've got a couple hooks from a previous vehicle so will see if the mounting holes match up.

Good idea on the emergency kit. I keep one in the truck toolbox all the time; I'll just have to put together a smaller version for the Jeep.

The battery seems to be fine, although I might just replace it with something "better" when the weather starts getting cold. I've also got a battery heater in the Jimmy so will probably transfer that over as well. Gotta check to see if this Jeep has a block heater. There's no obvious power cord I can see so will have to crawl under it one night. It's already dark here by 8 pm so will either have to use the flashlight or clean out the garage. (Odds are it'll be the flashlight...)
