got my new axles...now to the gears

I got me a Dana 44 and a Ford 9 inch. I found me a locker for the 9 inch so I ain't worried about it right now. But the 44 has 3.50 gears and I am going to be gearing LOW so I need a new carrier. Can I use my Dana 30 carrier, or do I have to use a Dana 44 specific carrier?

You have a lot of work to do. Or money to spend. Those axle don't just bolt in and unless you can do a gear swap better have some $$$$$$$$$$$

I'm not trying to be rude, but if you have to ask about a Dana 30 carrier fitting in a Dana 44 you probably shouldn't be doing any gears. Axles swaps take time and precision to be done properly. It IS a lot of work, but keep on researching and compile tons of information before you tear yours apart.

Just trying to save money. And a close friend of mine is one of the best mechanics around my area and he is the one that will be doing most of it for me. And the way he described it to me a few months ago, it's not that hard. He said with me and him working on it we could have the gears changed and and do the axle swap in a day(not dealing with steering)

I wish you the best of luck with the swap

"Darkproximity" is another member here on WF. He is doing a VERY similar swap on his soon & has done his homework. Might shoot him or "Ibuildembig" a PM to see if they could give ya some good pointers since they do these type swaps on a fairly regular basis

It's gonna be an AWESOME setup when you are finished
