Grinding Noise

I have a 91 wrangler that i just bought and put in a new 6cyl in it and just got it running. i've ran it for a couple of days now and i've started to get this grinding sound that sounds like brakes grinding. I just check front and rear and brakes are fine. It look like the guy i just bought it from just replaced them. need help ??

Did you check the rotors and drums? They may have replaced the pads and shoes but not the other components. Does it only happen when you press the brake pedal?

rotors and drums

the rotors and rums are fine also. it starts as soon as i start to move you can hear grinding which sounds like brakes grinding on metal and when you come to a stop they make the same noise but more intense. could this be low fluid in the diff's or low fluid in the t-case. i'm getting started today and change all of the fluids. i need to find out what this is i'm suppose to be getting it inspected for my tags here in PA,

thanks

It is hard to help, without hearing, and seeing the problem. You could jack the wheels off the ground, and turn them by hand to see if you could isolate the sound.

It kind of sounds to me like your brakes may be dragging. Have you tried bleeding them? Is it a constant sound or intermitant. Your drums or rotars could be warped. I think Bluviking has good advice in isolating where exactly the noise is coming from.

Good to hear. I had that same problem once ended up being we got the dust shield between the pad and the rotor. Never forget that noise.
