guage lights

i just bought a 88 yj and all my guage lights are out. i ran a hot wire to the heater control light and they all light up any ideas?

pull the gauge cluster and you will most likely just need to clean the printed board or even just take them out and put them back in works sometimes.

even if they all work with a hot wire? do you know where the main power suply wire is for all the guage lights?

it should come off the dimmer next to the headlight switch. sometimes it just needs cycled a few times to get it working.

after the dimmer switch it goes thru fuse #10 on the fuse block.

i have power to 1 wire on the dimmer switch and no power at the #10 fuse probly the swich right?

either that or the wire. have you rotated it to full extent both ways(dumb question)? the switch has a dent/off position.

ya i rotated it about 100 times. i can turn the dome light on but other than that nothimg.

problem solved, i cleaned the circuit behind the guages, still didnt work. got a new dimmer switch, stll didnt work, but after i installed the switch i checked the fuse, it was good, followed all the wires no problems, what the hell? right anyways i pushed on the fuse real hard and the guage lights flashed the little prongs that conect to the fuse, one of them where bent and not making a conection.
