Hardtop gaskets?

I finally got a YJ last month and the first thing I did was remove the hardtop and didn't pay any attention while doing it. Can anyone tell me what is used to seal the top to the Jeep? I see these corner gaskets for sale on a few sites and I have no clue where they go. If they were on my Jeep they are gone now. Also looks like there is a strip that goes between the base of the top and the Jeep.

I noticed the top whistled a lot when I got it, the owner told me he didn't have all the bolts/screws in. Not a big deal but I plan on having the top on for the 3 hour drive to the Outer Banks this summer. All that whistling will only drive my wife nuts...

I'd like to know too. I remember the old days with pickup truck caps, there used to be a roll of flat, chewing gum like material that came in a roll. I'd remove the covering paper and apply. It was about 1" wide.
Now-a-days, I think suppliers sell strips of gasket material for like $30.00.

If its put on correctly there is no need for gasket material.

I guess but 99 percent of the ones I remove that have those is because they haven't been put on correctly. From the factory, there wasn't any material that I know of.

Just go get some weather stripping form your local hardware store. Works just as good as any of that aftermarket junk, and costs $2.50 instead of $25.

there is a weatherstrip that runs between the top and the length of the w/shield frame, then the two corner ones go on the top front corners and if installed correct also fit around the corners of the w/shield frame too. finally on the sides buy a roll of topper tape from napa and apply to the sides

To make sure I've got it right: One strip on the front of the frame, 2 large rubber pieces that go on the corner of the windshield frame, and the optional gasket along the length of the top.

Looks like I am missing every single piece mentioned. No wonder it makes so much noise.

you got it, imo i would use the topper tape from napa on the sides, when you put the corner ones in be careful and watch what you are doing as they have to fit into the w/shield frame correctly to prevent leaks. one last tip is to have a small child sit on the front edge of the top to seat it down firmly to the w/s frame before you run the self tappers
