Question hardtop wiring harness for underdash

GUYS please help. i have spent a little over a year searching for this. My YJ came from the factory with soft top. and became then the had minimal brain cells. so they didnt think that someone might want to hardtop it. Therefore my rear wiper and defroster wont work. I need help. I need the harness for under the dash. can some one please light up my dark tunnel?

Thank you

switches under the dash

I would guess that the wiring is there, but not the switches. I have seen one with a panel where my switches are but it is blank. However, there was a plug on the back of it. Check out a unit with the hard top and see if there is a switch panel to the right of the steering column at the bottom of the dash. Is so, compare it to yours and see if you have the wiring hooked into it.

This is the vehicle I just committed to buy. Think it will need a LITTLE work before putting it on the road. It showes the back of the hard top panel to the right of the steering column area.

If you have the wiring, you should be able to get the switch panel from a salvage yard.

If the Jeep didn't came without a soft top, or the hardtop without the rear wiper option, you will be missing several things. All the wires that run from the front to back (integrated into the wiring harness that goes to the rear for breaks and tail lights), the two switches (one for wiper on/off and wiper fluid), the time delay relay that controls the wiper speed (part of the harness), the dual pump fluid bottle for under the hood and the tubing that runs from the pump under the fluid bottle to the back of the Jeep which is run with the wiring harness front to back.

I don't know anything about the YJ but I would guess it is like my TJ. NONE of the wiring is there unless it came with a HARD TOP. Being a YJ I don't think a MOPAR kit is available because of the age. At least I've never seen one. I would think you will have to try to find one in a bone yard or someone like www.daveysjeeps.com. GOOD LUCK
