Heat & A/C vents ??

Hello all,
Trying to find out if the air should be coming out of the front vents ?
I can put it on defrost works fine, as does the floor, but when I slide to vents nothing, it feels tight, like it's suppose to.
Now when I turn on AC it blows out the front vents just fine. If that's just the way it is with it having AC I can live with that , but if not I want to fix it. Thanks
95. 2.5 , 5 speed.

when you go to vent, the blower will turn OFF and only RAM AIR will enter the cockpit. the square hole by the passengers feet is the vent. all others will stop flowing any air.
