About a hour pull. there are bolts that go through the firewall from under the hood. Not too bad but make sure you put everything back out it will rattle. And make sure your new core comes with that foamy seal stuff out your heart won't be as hot due to air getting by it. good luck. Wouldn't hurt to have some extra hands.

Since you're going to be in there, what about upgrading the blower motor as well? I just did this last weekend. More heat and out blows a lot better!

I don't have a specific link to use but if you google "jeep yj heater blower motor upgrade", a lot of good write up's. I used an autozone pm102 for $20 or so. The hardest part was pulling the heater duct out.
Thanks, when I go wheeling, my call sign is "little blue jeep" because I run with 33's and everyone else is 37's and up.

Here's a write up about how to remove and install with pictures of the bolts that needed to be removed.
Heater Core - JeepForum.com

It takes about 1hr total time.
If you buy your heater core from napa, auto zone or other parts store your going to get a smaller unit that doesnt bolt up to anything it will just be connected only to your heater hoses. I didnt want to put all the stress purely on that area so I called the Jeep dealer and they did discontinued it. I got mine from Original Replacement Parts 56001459 - Heater Core for 87-95 Jeep® Wrangler YJ - Quadratec

Its exactly the same thing you would get from the factory.

Also try Rockauto.com. That's where I got my heater core, oem size.

Definitely get a buddy to help lining everything back up. Not a horrible job, but you will bleed. I think one hour is about right except in dog time. Once you get the housing out there is a bunch of stuff you'll be doing

Tidying up wires under the dash
Cleaning up battery tray (has to come out for this job)
Cleaning up your firewall - inside and out
Cleaning the ductwork
Trying to get the flow door realigned (I think the torx inventor designed the heating system)
Fixing any issues with heater control cables

Have fun! Like I said, not a bad job, but in my experience, every Haynes time estimate is off by 500%
