Heater Vent Redirection

So my heater does a really good job (heating my right ankle). I would like it to blow on the rest of my body (like maybe my freezing hands). Anybody figure out a cheap and easy way to redirect the heating vents that doesn't look too ghetto? I was thinking maybe dryer vent hose.

Wow. No one has anything to say about this? I seem to remember pictures of later model YJ's that have forward facing vents under the dash. Is this so and would one work on my 90?

Thats an AC equipped wrangler and I think you're looking for a solution to a problem that doesn't exist...you do know you can go from the floor to the windshield and split the 2 right? If your hands are that cold get driving gloves.

Those vents are for the A/C. I'm sure you could mod it to work. I was wanting to do the same thing. I can't find a spare a/c vent though. Here is a write up online on how a guy did his.http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/vents.html

I thought it looked a little ghetto. So I just cut the part that directs the heat to the floor. It helps a little, but I'm still keeping my eyes out for a spare a/c vent to use myself. Hope it helps! If you would like a pic of what I cut. Just holler!

Thanks. That was exactly what I was looking for. It would probably take up less space than the A/C vents anyway. I'm also glad that I'm not the only person that thinks having no forward facing vents is a huge issue.

That's the truth glad it helped. That's why I usually drive with gloves.

i bought a small 12V heater/fan for like $20. It's mounted on my dash and i can point it right at the steering wheel or wherever, works good. I actually bought it because my heater core plugged on me and I had no heat at all... i flushed the core and fixed that but I still use the heater when it's real cold because it's almost instant heat.

This may sound stupid, but has anyone thought or tried to make a "pass-through" in the dash pad, out of to two or more dash vents (say from a TJ/XJ dash), from the windshield vents? There would need to be a closure of some type between the windshield and dash (so one or the other could be used, rather than constantly split forward and up).

Obviously this is simplified theory; space is an issue, custom work isn't as much. But what if you were to run 1 or 1 1/2 inch ducting through the dash pad (i.e. hollow out the dash pad to allow for horizontal relocation of the vents)?

i thought i'd seen where you can buy some re-directors for the top defrost vents that work like the ones you see in old house floor vents. its basically just a piece of plastic that catches the air going up and moves it to point towards your face / chest
