Unhappy Hello, new to this forum looking for some advice!

Hey, just purchased a 94 wrangler, not in bad shape at all. Except for these damn doors. I've already had to take them both off and fix the insides to make the lock and unlock work properly, but on a bigger note to the doors... got home from work yesterday, and the metal "latch" that the door actually clicks to, to keep the door shut is rotting out and slipping so my door cannot latch at all. I am wondering if just welding it will do the trick or is there something else I should do?

-thanks a lot!

Are you talking about the door latch (what's in the door itself) or the striker located in the body?

If its the door striker area rotted out, you have more problems that you realize...never saw one of them rot out...

Wink thanks!

and yes it is the striker, the actual metal bolt looking part inside the frame of the jeep. It actually rotted! the person who owned this jeep before me obviously didn't give a shit what happened to it. Update though: welded the piece perfectly, and realigned the door. fits like new! So, in the future if this ever happens to anyone, welding will do the trick! good trade to have!

Thanks everyone!

I'm actually pretty sure all this guy did who owned the jeep before me, was constantly just want to see how much wreckage it could take. Considering the frame is in really good quality and the inside of the jeep looks like new, the doors went through hell and the door frames. Stupid people should not own nice things.
