Help with tranny issue

Driving home Friday and noticed it started to grind a little while shifting. Then cruising in 5th and let off there was a nasty sound. What could it be? Now it's hard to shift into 3rd. I'm not driving it now as its a second car - beach buggy. And help would be appreciated

Forgot to mention. It's a 94 yj 4.0 standard 5 speed

Clutch could be going or your trans might be going. You can try replacing the fluid and see if that helps

Ok will do the fluid tomorrow to see if thats it. Sounds like its going to be more but im open to anything

How many miles is one your clutch? Do you off road a lot?

Not much off road. Just use it as a second car and drive on the beach. Jeep has 100k on it but has been well taken care of
