Hesitation and poping sound

Almost everytime i get in my jeep and start going down the road i lose throtle and get a backfire poping sound from under the hood then i will regain the throtle for a min or so then it will do it again. But it doesnt do it every time but it is getting worse. I thought it was trash or water in the fuel so ive tried burning it out ive used fuel system cleaners and seafoam and nothing has worked. Any ideas what this might be. I have a 94 2.5L

I'm having the same problem with my 89 4.2 carbed have you eliminated all the possibilities coil plugs icm cap button maybe your lucky and It's one of those things I have changed all of this and no luck. Does yours idle fine all day long then go down the road then it does it or all the time

Hard to find right away sucks.

Fuel pressure constant and is the leakdown good???

If not fuel then ignition and timing have you checked all the parts???

Since it does it straightens out and then does it again it has to be something intermittent.

Have you checked for loose grounds to the engine passenger side of the block there is a bunch in one spot. Remove and clean.

Cracked dizzy cap grounded wire in the dizzy or to the dizzy???

You know with the wires if it is intermittent it could be anything so a good visual inspection is warranted and you may get lucky and find something easy.

Just a few thoughts
89 2.5 TBI, 4" RC lift, 1" Booms, SYE, Adams Driveshafts front and rear, Ford 8.8 with 4:88s, BFG 33X12.50X15, and a ton of other stuff.

mine was doing similar last year and it was the 02 sensor. easy to check just unplug it and it will run good not great but ok . plug is located under drivers side motor mount wires leading to 02 sensor on exhaust pipe. hope this helps good luck.
