Thanks for the kind words guys.... It's been another rough spring out here in the desert, but looking forward to coming home one month from today!!

It is probably best for everyone to continue this thread, less hassle of transferring over...... So thanks Ben, and I hope you get your money soon and the YJ works out for ya!

Cheers for now...

HHO Jeep STATUS....

Update..... I still have my "professionally" built HHO Kit in my garage, Not installed on my CJ .... After last years Afghan deployment I came back to Denver and married my best friend, then got deployed again.

My new wife can't drive the CJ (standard), and we will be starting a family soon.,. So it is currently for sale (if anybody is interested in a BADASS CJ7).
I did however find a slightly used JK Unlimited with a RIPP Supercharger.

As soon as I get back home and settled ill be tracking my gas mileage with the JK as is, then install my HHO Kit and posting the results.

Cheers from the desert!

hello Ben.. and Hello ShaftyMon.. it's good to see you both here. My build has also taken longer than expected.. Turbo Jeep sounds pretty cool, my little 2.5 (tractor like I hope) has the tri county gear inertia ring and should be ready by Spring. ah but still looking forward to the hho blog.

Well, I just ordered a kit to install, and still learning the specifics. I will be putting it on my 97 ford escort wagon, so we will see what happens. I get good milage now, 26 in town, 40 highway, but I just changed the air filter, and that thing was black, so it clearly needed replaced, so I wll got through 2 full tanks of gas to get a new base line mpg, and then do the install (when it is a little warmer) and give it a whirl. Since the thread and knowledge was killed off before with crappy luck, hopefuly I can inject some new hope. I didn't get the most expensive set up, and I still need to get some parts, so timing is pretty good for an install the 1st weekend of next month at the latest. Alrighty, thats enough for now.

I'll tell you the ending, it doesn't work. the machine doesn't produce enough HHO to make a difference.
a local police dept. did a test on a couple of their cars. state of the art system. ran it for 6 months. no benefit, local collage had the same results.

When I first discovered the HHO video's I thought wow this is kinda cool. So being very mechanically capable, I set off to tackle this wacky project. We also happen to have a professor in the family, who also is a wrench turning tinkerer, his passion is the Saab Sonet. In my opinion the worst driving platform ever..

We did the math, as you will too. This is a tinker toy idea at best and is prone to issues. As wonderful as it sounds, and as much as I would like to avoid sending money for crude oil to the opec nations. In the end you are setting yourself up for a disapointment but it does challange one's mental proscess. just be careful and dont put it on your favorite car.

But I digress. It just seems Detroit or China would have incorperated it into the latest hybrid if it was a winner..

I get what your saying there and if you read up on these systems there is a little maintenance and tweaking of electrolyte and running the system out if water may kill it, my run in with people and maintenance is pretty poor, my dad owns a ford dealership and the mechanic part of the business is sometimes comical because of what people do and don't to there cars. One lady came in Cus there was a noise in here engine, oil was 10k passed due and running two quarts low...I mean that's just my take is the maintenance part but then again maybe it's something else idk

HHO Myths......

I obviously can't say either way whether it works or not, at least until I get my baseline and test the kit out myself. However, from what I have read, worst case scenario you significantly reduce the harmful emissions produced by your vehicle. As far as general upkeep goes, so what!? We are Jeepers, tinkering is what we do ...... If I can increase my mpg's by even 10% AND reduce emissions, I'll be satisfied.

7 more days till I'm back stateside!! Happy Jeeping!

I tried it once, built a tank and a large circuit board to provide 80v DC to stacked copper electrodes separated by nylon washers. It would bubble a little and made flammable gas for sure, but nowhere near enough to do anything useful.

Think about it, earlier comments claim 8-12hp increase... In what size engine? Can't be the same for all engines.. The power source I was using to make a steady stream was a 220v 40 amp circuit powering quite a few diode bridges wired together. No way could an automotive alternator produce enough juice to make enough gas to increase fuel economy when factoring in all that extra weight.

My project was based on scientific knowledge and I was proving that the technology was not anywhere near useful in a vehicle.

I got enough gas to power a weed wacker consistently.

Did you add electrolyte to your water?
