So I decided to take off my airbox completely and give it a good cleaning. PO definitely hadnt done so in a LONG time.... it was so cruddy and filled with bugs and junk that I tossed the K&N, it was beyond cleaning and I have no idea how the engine sucked any air through that mess!!!
Anyways back on point.... when I got it all cleaned up in noticed there was what looks like a hole drilled in the bottom. It is a very small hole. My assumption is this is for rain water that the ARB safari snorkel most likely pulls in? I am re-sealing the airbox right now and just curious if I should plug that hole up as well.
Fill it up and seal the box the snorkel is for going through high water and the hole defeats the purpose of it. What little water is sucked in will be ingested by the engine without it harming the engine in the least.

Do you guys know how the ARB safari snorkel removes rain water? I tried to do some digging but all I find is the typical "patented water removal system" marketing BS. That is the only reason why I didn't seal up that hole. Last thing I want is to flood my engine from driving through some typical Florida rain lol! I am also working on all the electricals as best I can to make sure nothing is loose or exposed to minimize that outcome as well.
Airboatingobx - I agree that the engine can run through some water and moisture but sometimes it rains so hard here that you can hardly see past your hood. I have seen engines run like crap from getting a bit too much in the intake on the opposite side of the intake fence - short ram / cold air intakes. Just want to make sure I avoid running into the same problem.
The snorkels head separates the water then the air pressure and current further breaks up the water droplets, also the sides of the head (where you clamp to the periscope) have like little hole things and apparently that also helps run water out, but I don't know if I would believe that...
as for the holes in the air box, they are for water to run out in the case it gets in, I didn't deal them when I rebuilt my air box for my snorkel!
I see what you did there have you had water up to your hood without any engine stumble or stutter? I will block up all the holes that "appear" to not be factory and leave that one little guy in the bottom that looks like it was always there.
I would think with the hole at the bottom and air pressure coming in from the top no water would get through that hole even if under water. Put a glass upside down in water and the water doesn't rise into the glass beacuse of the air pressure, same effect with you airbox I would bet. Might be better leaving it open for a drain.
I haven't gotten that deep yet with the snorkel:/ I have once with factory and it really didn't do much, but I left the two on the inside( on the engine side of the air box) alone, I would leave at least one unsealed just in case
