How much lift for 36" tires

Im rebuilding the motor in my 88 yj, but before I put it on the road I want to put it in the air. I have a 2" body lift on it. Would a 4" suspension lift be enough to fit 36" tires or would an soa be better. I got a good deal on some 36" tires on 15x12 rims. Can anyone give me some advice on how to fit them.

You might not want to put the body lift on it. It works better in it.

They are talking 6" of total lift and still possibly trimming fenders.

Because of the size of the wheel openings on YJs, you will more than likely need to do some fender trimming to get any kind of flex out of it. An easier way to do that would be to use TJ fender flares. Just trace and cut the tub and then mount the flares, you will have clearance for the 36s with appox. 6" of lift.
