I'm new here and have a question in 8.8 swap..

I've recently put a 2001 ford explorer rear end in my 93 YJ and not sure what gears are in it. It has the tag on it but not sure what means what on it.. Anyone know what's stock in these rear ends?

What is on the tag? My guess is 3.73

Yea after I posted the pic and clicked on it, I seen it a lil more clear.. Thx.. When driving, it seems like it has a really tall gear in it. Could that be tranny issues ya think? I very seldom EVER use 5th gear..

I have 33 inch tires and 4.56 and seldom use 5th, only on the freeway at 65 plus

33's.. I'm new to the jeep thing but I've heard quite a few pple say they hardly ever use 5th either.. Would it be a good idea to put a lower gear in the rear or would I have to put the same in the front as well?

Yes both front and rear regear. That way the 4X4 will work. After the lift and tires a regear is in order. $1500 here for both so it is a save and wait thing.

Yea we've put 6" of lift on it and done the rear end swap and somehow just so happen to have the same rear gears as the front.. (Luckily).. And have the 33's on it so I think I will def try the lower front and rear gears.. It's not my daily driver so I'm whiling to play and experiment a little.. I know I'm def hooked on riding with other bad ass jeeps and good pple now!

If you are going to regear and it is your budget consider getting lockers front and rear. I have a Detroit locker in back and a Detroit Tru-Track in the front works great but there are many other options.

Yea I def have to have a locker. Already been stuck and had I had a locker I wouldn't have been... So that's def in the works!

Plan on doing your locker and gears at the same time. While it's apart, knock it all out at once.
