Information about OME lift (dims, angles, actual lift)

Just installed a 2" OME lift on my 94 YJ and thought I'd post some information about driveshaft angles, actual lift etc... So here it is:

I installed the Light duty springs CS014F/CS037R. Tires are 235/75/R15 (tire diameter with weight on it is about 27-5/8") and I had about 18" under the rocker panel with sagged springs. I now have close to 21".

Here are the angles to horizontal prior to transfer case drop:
- Differential: 9 deg, Transfer Case: 5 deg, Driveshaft: 22.5 deg, so Diff/DS angle was 11.5 deg and TC/DS was 17.5 deg. I had DS vibes at 35-40 mph.

After the TC drop install:
- Differential: 9 deg, Transfer Case: 6 deg, Driveshaft: 16.5 deg, so Diff/DS angle is 7.5 deg and TC/DS is 10.5 deg, no more vibes up to 50 mph (didn't drive it faster since I'm still working on the spongy brakes).

If you are getting ready to make the move on your new lift, please note the following:

- I had (or chose) to use brake lines extension to cover for full drop of the axle and ended up replacing all the brake lines (old ones didn't want to come apart...). I thought it was a good idea anyway considering the age of the Jeep. I still haven't been able to bleed the lines fully (spongy brakes mentioned earlier, real pain in the butt, but that's another post 😬). I had to unbolt the Power Steering pump to get the front line in, but the rest was not too bad.
- Watch your differential vent lines, Front axle CAD line, Emergency brake lines as they could get damaged when you bring the axles all the way down (when installing new springs)
- The rear shackles are a pain to get to because of the tank & exhaust pipe but nothing you can't handle.
- If you use greasable shackles, make sure you install the bolts with the hole (connection for the nipples) facing an accessible space. Sounds stupid but it's easy to miss if you get a bit too excited and rushing through it.
- Make sure the shackles are facing the right direction (not the same front and back, just look at pictures before-hand
- Buy new U-bolts and hardware. Front U-bolts have two different sizes where the back ones are all the same (look under your Jeep and you'll see why).
- You will need sway bar extensions. I went for the disconnect style. Easy to install and not expensive.
- If you use OME greasable shackles and bushings, the shoulders on the bushings that go on the frame are a little thinner than the ones that go on the spring to compensate for a slight difference in width. I didn't notice until I was done installing three of the springs (got lucky on two though!).

Well, I think that's about it for the big stuff.

It took me took me a long time because of issues getting the parts one after another, delivery delays/cancellation/re-order (sway bar extensions, U-bolts, brake line extensions) so order everything you need ahead of time and you should be able to do that over a weekend (start early just in case you run into issues).

Good luck!
