Infrequent difficulty shifting

Hoping someone can explain this to me. Infrequently I experience difficulty in shifting gears. Clutch reservoir is full. When difficulty occurs, attempts to shift into reverse result in grinding, no grinding in forward gears but difficult to shift. Have tried double clutching, slight rev when clutch is engaged, etc. Nothing seems to help. Allowing jeep to sit for awhile, problem goes away. Trans fluid is ok. 88 yj, 2.5, Peugeot trans, running Redline MT90 fluid (changed in last 3 months). I know this trans is not popular but when normal (most of the time) shifting is very smooth.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Jim

The reverse grinding is a result of the non syncronized gears not meshing - you weren't in gear all the way. If you don't feel it go into reverse all the way, just gently let out a small amount of clutch no gas and it should go right into gear.
