I have NO dash lights at all. I've messed with the interior light dimmer switch, but nothing happens. I'm guessing that the PO removed a fuse to keep the interior lights from coming on when the doors are removed. That's what I did with my TJ, but the gauge lights would work fine, just not the door-switch activated interior lights. Since I'm new to the square-headlight end of the Jeeping community, I was wondering if any of you had an idea of what I've got going on here. Driving at night is an experience with NO gauge lights at all. It's cool, but it would be nice to know how fast I'm going...

I feel like a dummy having to ask this question, but I AM new to YJs...

Thanks guys...

Darn, I saw you posted this and was like great, maybe he has the same problem as me, but then I saw YJ forum, hoped it was a mistake, but nope. Ah well. I may still find the answer if someone pops in. I hate electronics/wiring.

Yes I saw that!

What happened to it?

I have gone through all my wiring, fixed alot of stuff I didn't even know was wrong, refastened THREE(!) yes three grounds that were just hanging out, and nothing. I didnt make it behind the actually cluster yet because its been so cold but I will get to tear in soon.

Traded the TJ and my little red Ranger for a fullsize Ram Big Horn Edition 4x4 with a 5.7 Hemi. Then missed my Jeep so bad I went and bought another one! The Ram will make a good tow vehicle...

Any dash lights working? As in the gauges above the radio or absolutely NO dash lights?

As far as fuse possibilities, there should be a 5A fuse in the bottom left corner of your fuse box above the e-brake pedal under the dash on firewall. That sends the power to the gauge lighting.

NO dash lights at all.

I found that 5A fuse, and it was burned out. I wondered if that might be the culprit...

EDIT: So as not to sound like an idiot... I found that fuse AFTER I posted this thread...lol...

Not gonna overbuild it just yet. I just put 33's on it, as well as a HP D30 and a D35 with 4.10's under it for the time being, so it'll stay somewhat tame for a bit. I've got an 8.8 sitting on jackstands in my garage just begging to be installed under it, but I'm waiting to install a locker/regear/chromo the rear before I install it. I just wanted something to wheel and take hunting instead of my truck.

I definitely understand that! And sounds like it will be well taken care of. Did you do the hpd30 or did someone else. I need to find a fair price for one.

The previous owner installed both front and rear differentials for me. He had gotten both the diffs from a 4-banger, so they have the 4.10 gears. When he decided to sell the Jeep, he planned on just selling those diffs separately, but I wanted them under the Jeep as part of my purchase agreement. I'm glad I went that route, especially now that I'm running 33's. Works out great gearing wise, coupled with my 4.0L and my AX-15 5-speed.

Well, I replaced that 5A fuse under my dash and I'm still not getting any dash/gauge lights when I turn on my headlights. Also I have no high beams. I'm wondering if my interior light rheostat switch is bad. Any ideas?

My turn signal/high beam/wiper stalk feels really "mushy" as well. Maybe it needs replaced as well?

I really don't know much about the electrical end of vehicles, so I'm hoping you guys might be able to help me trace this problem down.

First, I think your headlight dimmer switch is the problem with your high beams, but it could also be your daytime running light module. I think the two problems are unrelated.

I've been looking at the schematic, an extra wiring harness I have in the garage, and testing on my own Jeep. In looking at all of this, it's lead me to a couple of questions that if you don't mind answering, I think we'll get it solved.

Is there a time when you will be near the computer so we can Q&A a little more quickly?

I can take my iPad out to my Jeep tomorrow morning. That way I'll be able to go over the stuff with you in real-time. How does that work for what you've got going on tomorrow morning? (Sunday)

Good Call.........I'm on eastern time, but tonight we put clocks ahead one hour. I've already set my clock forward so it's 12:00 here currently. Do you have daylight savings time and what time is it where you are?

You're an hour ahead of me normally. It'll be the same tomorrow as well. It'll be 10:00 for me and that works fine.

Hey it's pouring rain right now, and is forecast to rain all day. If I had room in my garage I'd move the Jeep inside, but currently that's not an option. Probably going to have to coordinate another time to trace this electrical gremlin. Sorry.

No need for an apology. If it lets up and you feel like working on it, I could PM you my number and you could give me a call when/if your ready if you get a chance today. The only thing I have going on today is watching the race.

That'll work. Go ahead and PM me your number and I'll give you a call if this rain lets up. It keeps the farmers happy, but not us Jeepers!
Thanks!
