instrument cluster lights

the previous owner of my jeep was something of a hack, and all of the wires in my dash are a huge mess. im having trouble with my cluster lights working - the lights behind the spedometer, clock, and tach. i cant get them to turn on.

are these on a certain fuse? i couldnt seem to find one for them.

the interior light when you turn the dimmer all the way up works, and the headlights/tail lights all work. none of the gauge lights work and ive tried new bulbs, too.

try to find a dimmer in a junk yard. when you roll the dimmer opposite of the interior the guages should light up. check for a wire maybe off at the dimmer.

it's not a "real" ckt board. just some copper runs. you may have one broken, some dirty contacts on the plug or some other small nit picky thing. if you find a broken run, you can solder a jumper over the break. the fuse for the lights is a 5amp(tan) fuse on the fuse panel behind the parking brake.

I have this trick, for the center gauge pod. Maybe it will work for the gauges behind the steering wheel as well!

I pulled one out and went to Auto Zone. They have several and you can compare and find the right one.
