Islander Oil pressure sender - which one!

Hi
I have an Islander 4.2 6-cylinder petrol model and the pressure sender needs replacing.
Going by date it should need
Oil Pressure Sender*56026782
So I ordered one but when I removed the part it was a lot smaller and the thread seemed different.
The links I've given are just for the pictures - and the second one looks like what I've removed.

So - does the big one fit and I'm just not trying hard enough?
And - if the little one is correct then how come the date for the models it fits is wrong?

First, welcome to the forum Mike. The second pic looks like the sender in my Jeep that has a 4.0 rather than the 4.2. Maybe the supplier you got your sender from gave the wrong part. I am not sure if they are interchangable or not.

Jeff

Thanks - I bought the jeep in the UK and have now moved it to spain - parts and help are difficult to find in both countries!

It could be that I have a 4L not 4.2L as the registration document claims?
Is there a quick way to tell the difference?

From my limited knowledge, the 4.2 is carburated and the 4.0 is fuel injected. I am sure someone will post up with definate answer for you.

Oil Pressure Sender for a 4.2L

I have a 4.2L, my pressure sending unit is on the distributor side of the engine block, back by the firewall. It should be a solid cylinder with a straight smaller diameter threaded on one end, the other end should be a single wire connector spade with a boot. Sometimes these share a two-way tee with another switch (that has two wires) for the carbeuretor and vacuume system.

Stock 4.2L are a carbureted engine, fuel injection started in 1989 on the 4.0L high output. That being said, some jeepers out there did convert 4.2L to fuel injection (like me).

Good luck!
