Jeep dying when as let off

Today I was driving home and Jeep was running perfect. I came to a stop sign and all power cut off. Turned out alternator was shot. Replaced it and now when I start it up, it has a knocking sound and when I let off of gas it dies. I have a video, but I don't know how to upload it.

Put a long screwdriver to the alternator case and put your ear on the handle to see of the knocking is coming from the new alternator. If so, you may have gotten a bed replacement unit.

Would it be knocking super hard if that was the case. Also is there a site that I can load the video and put a link on here to it if that helps anyone. I know I don't have much info, but it never knocked until new alternator went on.

Send a message via Yahoo to Nubby55
pull the belt off the Alt. and start it and see if it still knocks, don't run it so long that you run it hot, but should be able to check it out pretty fast.

That's a good idea.

Also, Give the alternator pulley a spin by hand and see if its hitting internally

Gah! That's a lot of blowby. You need to do a compression test, first thing. And look at your plug condition.
