jeep newbie...wierd starting issue

what up jeep nation.....i have a 92 YJ 2.5 4cyl and it such a process to turn on my truck. in order to get it going i turn the key to i guess the acc position in a typical vehicle and let it sit in that position untill this ticking nosie begins to accelerate in tone, as the req' d mant. light flashes. the ticking stops, you hear the fuel sending unit buzz and the req'd mant light is on completly along with the check engine light then i can turn the key to start the jeep.....does anyone know what my problem could be? i was thinking the starter but if that was the issuse it would turn over at all and its not the battery cause its brand new....its really wierd, any takers?!?!?

I think the coil only sends spark to your distributor, and with that, only matters when it is running.

Im thinking your computer. But either way, before spending money on parts be sure to follow procedures to test each one. For example, take your coil into a parts store and ask them to test it before buying another or you'll find yourself with a bunch of parts you do not need.

Look up some threads about the computer symptoms and see what you think.

..and to beat everyone else to the punch, ITS NOT A TRUCK! ITS A JEEP hehe...
