Jeep runs again, now I need bolt help...

I am new to the forum and I am excited about our new Jeep.

I posted earlier today about a no start situation. It is resolved but I need tech help. Somehow the bolts that hold the crank position sensor in place are gone...where I don't know...they are just gone.

Here is what I need from someone with a factory service manual or first hand knowledge.

How long are the bolts that hold on the crank position sensor? What is the size, threads per inch, coarse, fine threads? Metric SAE?

Any help or point me in a direction where I can get the info.

Thanks

Craig

Out of curiosity, what were the symptoms of your no start situation. I'm dealing with one right now and have replaced or check everything I can think of. What was the solution?

The Jeep would just crank. It was not even trying to catch or start. With a bad crank position sensor there is no fuel delivery nor spark evidently.

For me, my crank position sensor ended up being good, just the bolts fell out and it was displaced causing the no start situation.

What is yours doing?

Go to the dealership. If they dont have them in stock they can get the proper ones in a day or two. They my cost 7 bucks or so but it beats driveing all over town tryin to find the right ones and spending 10 bucks in gas and getting aggrevated as crap.

Beaver5, thanks for the reply. I stopped by the dealer on my way to the office this morning and they have no listing, not even specs for the bolt in their system. I called two other dealerships in the area, hoping someone had an old manual or something...no go...

Not aggravated yet...I have been told that they are most likely metric...one service guy said fine thread...another service rep said coarse thread.

I'm leaning towards metric.

Thanks again.

flatline, mighty neighborly of you as they say. I had a thought come to me during lunch to get under the Jeep with my tap and die set to discern the proper size, etc.

If I can't find the bolts in the next day or so I might take you up on your kind offer.

Another forum member said that the Cherokee bolts 91-95 are the same. I can't find any Wranglers listed in the local junkyards...however might be tons of Cherokees.

Thanks again for the offer, I'll post here what I find.
