Jeep temperature gauges

I feel that my temperature gauge in my wrangler is far from being accurate. Does anyone know another location to add another temperature sending unit in a 4.2l for a separate temperature gauge? I also have the manual transmission so I do not have the front thermostat housing location.

Have you replaced the thermostat?

Yes, and the temperature sending unit and my gauge still only gets up to 110F.

Do you have a way of measuring the temp of your coolant after it warms up?????

Could be it is only getting to 110...... or perhaps you have a parallax error...... OR incorrect sensor/gauge combo..........

When I installed my friends dash cluster to test it, his gauge showed the temp to be around 195. I know it is the gauge, I just wanted to install another gauge without fear of the computer having problems by removing the stock temp sending unit out of the system.

All I can say is our oil pressure gauge went all the way up on startup, the fuel level gauge was not reading, we just had temp, volts and clock working. We took the cluster off and removed the nuts that make contact with the vinyl pc board wiring and cleaned all the positive connections that were black and green with burnt oxidation. Plugged it back in and all gauges were working again. I was sure we needed a sending unit for the oil pressure gauge, so I would check the connections on the gauge since it worked for us. I just warn you to be careful putting it back in because there is a bare steel bracket under the gauges you cannot help but bump when installing and since the clock is on all the time it will short out and burn the vinyl circuit board. Luckily we soldered a 22 ga wire between the burnt sections to get the power back to the clock but other than that its pretty straight forward with some fine emery and contact cleaner.

My little ribbon and all the connectors were already cleaned by me, everything is tested and should be working fine, it is just the gauge which I cannot find for the life of me.
