Question Jeep Yj Heater!!

With it being 7 F one day and 50 the next I dont know when it is going to stay warm and need to find out why my heat in my 95 Jeep Wrangler Rio Grande YJ isnt working if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it!!!

Problems : No heat except when air vent is closed a small amount blows out only when jeep is going not still the Defroster is the same way except it blows hard there is no A/C in this vehicle only a Soft Top :P

I have tried : Checked all Fuses found out why the dome light didnt work just a fuse replace it thats the only fuse that did not work checked all wires I could possibly see with a tester the one where you hook to a ground and a hot wire and it lights up all hot wires seem to have power I did notice on some of the wire connectors/terminals there was a chalky texture/Corrosion looks yellow but in an acid form not sure what it is !!

Any help is Greatly Appreciated !!!

your heater core could be plugged or the damper in your dash is loose/broken wire fell off.

There are two kinds of people in this world...

there's a couple youtube videos of flushing out a heater core. whether or not it works, I don't know... It is youtube. Check that. Maybe a thermostat or low on antifreeze. All else fails. put some cardboard in front of your radiator. It'll help run a little warmer and blow warmer obviously.

I would suggest reading this thread. It helped me out a great deal in understanding how it works then once you understand it you can test and diagnose.

I had the same problem with same vehicle. I had to put a new heater core. If you decide to do that then it will be much cheaper to do it yourself. Not an easy task tho. You have to take off the entire dash to get to it. I didn't do mine myself and it costed me just under 300$

When the Jeep is moving, is the air coming out of the heater and defrost warm?

flush your heater core, it,s simple and doesnt cost a dime...

you may have to flush it a couple times,

i lost my heat after replaceing my water pump and t/stat.., was getting ready to replace my heater core and thought what the heck i will flush my heater core again (first time it was clear) this time had some gunk come out i flushed it a few times and now i have great heat,,,,,,,----best of luck...

You MAY have to flush the heater core forwards AND backwards to get all of the crap out of it.......
