Looks like a solid platform to build. Not gonna get much out of it. Gears and an E-fan swap is about as much as as you can do for the 4 banger other mods such as intake, exhaust, and the oh so awesome tb spacer will net minimal gains at best

Looks like a good start but not sure how much more power you can get out of the 4 banger. I want more out of my 6 but it runs so good, so I did the lift and other things. When the motor drops dead then I will worry about getting more under the hood.

Don't bother. The 2.5 will turn any tire you need if its a daily driver with the proper gearing.

About the only thing that will net you a significant gain in power is the electric fan. The stock fan is a giant hunk of metal that sucks up a bit of HP, and will always do so, even when its not needed (like on the highways where there's already ample cooling flow).

Some report around 10hp in gains, but expect nothing more, that's best case scenario. Otherwise, don't expect to find a lot of HP.

I just got a yj with a 2.5 in it as well i looked into a few swaps and decided to go with a 350 sbc swap. gonna pick up a few things including the motor next week. from what iv read a 350 is a good swap. good luck with what ever you decide. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Is this true for the 4.2 I-6 as well?

Can't speak of that engine, most recommend the Nutter Bypass though.
