Just picked up a 95

Long story short, decided to keep my 74 CJ5, and pulled all the ads, ordered parts, started tearing into it when some guy calls and wants to buy it. Went the next day and picked up this 95 that I had been eyeing for about a month. Its a 95, absolutely no tub rust, completely bone stock with its origional hard top and full doors. It runs perfect, 5 speed, 3.5 axle ratios. Came with the origional window sticker and all the owners manuals etc etc.

So I went and ordered my 4" Rough Country lift kit, Rims and 33s today. Picked up a Warrior Rear Trail Rack too. Cant wait to get it lifted. Feels very strange sitting so low after my CJ.

You sound like me. I too had a 74 cj5 that I sold and I regretted it. I have a 95 2.5 liter that I recently rebuilt back all stock except I Herculined the entire thing. The front shackles don't look stock on yours. Before throwing money into it I would drive it around for a few weeks and make sure everything works good. If its a 4 cyl don't be surprised if 5th gear craps out on you. But I must say, your jeep looks really clean, the mirror bracket paint isn't even peeling off yet

Oh forgot about that, its a 4.0l with a/c. It has 158k showing on the odometer, but it was flat towed behind a motorhome for many years. The engine and tranny and transfter case look spotless, no leaks at all and I am guessing, have a lot less hours than the odometer would indicate. The suspension on the other hand, is shot. The springs are bowed backwards, and I suspect the larger shackles(front and rear) were a way to "fix" this issue cheaply.

The paint is new. Not the greatest of paint jobs, it looks great on the outside, but they left the hard top on when they painted it. Which is strange because they painted the door jams, and under the hood nicely. I will have to fix that, but otherwise, once the lift kit is on, the only issue I can find on it will be fixed.

Looks sweet. That is exactly what I am looking for. Do you mind telling me what you got it for?

I think I got a steel. Picked it up for $3850. All the ones I looked at around here under $5000 were rusted, or didnt have tops, or didnt run, or, you name the issue. This one was completely intact, and ran perfect. It was the color we wanted, and gave me some cash to play with to do the suspension etc. I looked at some real junk, with homemade lifts, cracked frames, I couldnt beleive the junk people were asking over $6000 for. It seemed like all the decent ones were 4 cylinders, and with a/c, I didnt want a 4cyl. The 6 is anemic enough.

The only thing I am a little iffy on is the hard top. I dont know if I like it. It came from the factory with it and the doors, so there isnt even a frame or soft top on it and never was. So it will cost me a fortune to replace all that stuff if I want to convert to soft top. If I could find someone to do a complete swap I may do that. Just dont know if I want to split it from the Jeep, as it is all factory stuff, and on the window sticker.

if you sell the top and doors, you might get enough to soft top it and put half doors on it.

Pulled the hard top off and confirmed that they did not have it off when they painted it white. So it was green up there. I painted it with truck liner and it looks good. There was a spaghetti mess of wiring for aftermarket crap that either did not work or were not even there, so I removed all that too. Now I can see my fuse panel again and the stereo works without shutting off every time I hit a bump.
