keeping 1330 U joint w/ 8.8 swap

Whe I did an 8.8 swap on my 89 I used the spicer pinion adapter, not problem because it had the 1310 U joint.

Now that I'm getting closer to do it on my 95, I'm wondering how to keep my bigger 1330 U joint, If spicer makes a 1330 option for their adapter I havent been able to find one.

Anyone have a solution?

you should be able to find a 1330 yoke for the 8.8 vs the flange in 1310. same for the shaft on the t-case..

are you aware are any specific vehicles that have a 1330 yoke with the correct spline count and size?

Crossover joint. Although if you have a SYE it is not really a concern anyway since the angle is not steep enough on the pinion side to justify the trouble of retaining the 1330. Other than that if you dont have an sye go with a 1350. I am not sure about a 1350 for the tc without an sye but you could do a 1330-1350 crossover on that side if they don't make one.

I dont have the SYE, and it might be a while before I do, but my driveline is vibe free as it is, so youre saying get a 1330/1350 joint? I like that idea, but still need to locate a 1350 pinion yoke that will work on the 8.8

Why don't you just get the flange for the 1330 for the 8.8? Just use the stock u-joint with it.

I would call to make sure its for you applications.. but many folks sell them...

If you plan on putting in an SYE in the future though then get the 1350. None of the SYE kits I found offer a 1330 for the NP231. It is either 1310, or 1350. Because of that if you have any future plans for lifting I would do a 1350 with a crossover joint since you would want to go up to a 1350 from a 1330, not down to a 1310, or have to buy another flange yoke. I am not sure if this price is good, but this is what you would need to do it. If you have a driveline shop nearby I woul djust pick up the stuff you need from them.

Not sure what the big issue is? Get the stock adapter from the disc brake explorer. It is 1330 andyou can use your current 1330 ujoint in it. That is what I am using. You dont need a conversion joint or buy a $40 adapter. I paid $5 from a junkyard for it.
It sounds like you bought the actual yoke instead of the flange and adapter. In that case get the flange and adapter from a junkyard 8.8. I think the flange is better than a yoke anyways.

I dannys driveshaft has the adapter and the sye from Tom woods has the 1330 ujoint... Atleast it did

2nd edit... They also sell the 1350 flange for the 8.8 so if all sye systems do use 1350 you can use the same ujoints I guess with the new driveshaft

I havent bought anything yet, just getting my ducks in a row, I was not aware the explorer used a 1330 flange, but now that I do, Ill will use that

I guess maybe I was overthinking this, I should have just looked under an explorer to see what type of configuration it used, when I bought mine (and all the pics of them ive seen) they just have the flat surface on the pinion.

so to clarify, the explorer already has one of these adapters under it for a 1330 u joint?

Yep that is the one. You need it off a disc brake explorer as they used 1330. Take a hammer with you to the junkyard with a sacraficial socket to pull that adapter off the stock explorer driveshaft.
