Exclamation Keys held hostage!

My YJ seems to have taken a liking to my keys. I put the key into the ignition, starts up just fine. I drive wherever. When I go to take my keys out, I can not get the key to turn back to the "lock" position on the steering column. It gets stuck in that sort of "standby" spot between battery power and ignition. Actually, this has happened several times before. Usually I just play around with it turning the key back and forth and I can get it out. Unfortunately, this time the Jeep wont give up the fight and my keys have been stuck in there since I got home from work today. Anyone know whats going on here or a way to fix it?

Thanks..TK

try some wd-40 on the key and insert to lock.

Send me your address and if the Jeep is inside a garage or parked in the driveway. I will help you out, honest.

Thanks you guys, but I think I figured it out. It might have something to do with the gear shift? I have an automatic and when I just touched the shifter to make sure the Jeep was secure in park, the keys came right out. I cant really explain it, but if this ever happens again I guess I will try that first. Sorry for the dumb question
