That's how they came from the factory.
The problem is if you move the plate elsewhere, it won't be lit up at night as required.

The left brake light has the rear plate light underneath.
Maybe you could switch the left rear with the right rear brake light?

Might be easier to just date women who like to pump gas.

too funny!

I dont mind doing the electrical work if I need to....

BUT what I am tempted to do is just finish making this jeep more user friendly and selling it, then buying the one I really want.. A late 70s CJ5 ! This one was given to me and I have it mostly done, not "tricked out" like I want it, but it is after all NOT the jeep i really want.

You should try to find the gas cap on a '57 Chevy

Yep, they are spring loaded from the factory over the gas nozzle, quite the pain. I've relocated mine to the center of my spare tire using some steel I had lying around:

Had to add an additional piece of steel over the top to hold the LP light:

Plenty bright to illuminate the plate, but is road legal.

Wow Pete, didnt know that was out there and it looks stupidly easy to fabricate for yourself.

i use to hold my plate down with the cap also, untill i removed thebraket and just hung my plate in one of the holes that use to hold on my spare tire,,,,im not worried about the light over my plate around here...another reason i love living where i do..

im going to do something different with it when i do my rebuild...

i,ve also seen a few that have wraped them around there corners and that looked good..
