Listen to this!

So my friend bought a jeep, 93 yj 2.5, and came to me when he got it to look at it and drive it a little. No rust, new engine and tranny, but he told me it popped and jerked when he turned and wanted me to see what was up (no power steering) after driving in and tinkering for a minute I figured out the jeep was in 4h, I took it out and drove it and it didn't do it, transfer case and everything are good and he drove home for three hours and the last three days in 4h! And did 80 in 4h! How lucky is that?

Since I cant shift on the fly to 4H during the winter months when I think it might be icy I put it in 4H and leave it. Some times reaching highway speeds. Its not going to ruin the NP231 but it might stretch the chain a bit.

When I bought my jeep (first) I drove it home not knowing it was in 4H. And then I drove it that way for a week before I started playing with the 4 wheel drive and found it was engaged. No damage but you can't run them that way.

I had a buddy once who had a YJ(Guessing at that, I think it was too long ago to be a TJ) and he called me at 2:30 in the morning and said he was stuck. I got dressed and drov completely across Jacksonville FL in my 4x4 dodge. I got there and looked at the scene before I got the straps out and he just didn't look stuck to me. I said, "MIke... isn't this a 4 wheel drive???" He said "I dunno... is it??" We put it in four wheel and pulled it out of the ditch. I cussed him for 3 hours! I make fun of him every time I see him now.

Oh I already give him hell for it, he felt so dumb. I guess the jeep not having power steering would kind of covered the feeling of being in 4wd
