Just like an old choke cable or manual throttle. First loosen the lock ring. Push the red button and the pull to lock the front axle or push in to unlock. If it is adjusted correctly it should be a short throw and smooth. However you may and mine I have to be rolling a little to get the collar to slide on and off. It has to get the splines lined up to engage and sometimes doesn't want to release.

Question 4x4 posi loc "Little Red"

Well I tried it out as you described and it slipped in like a greased pig.If I understand correctly, the black ring you loosen, push the red button and pull the whole knob till it locks in,Do you tighten the black ring when it engages? At the risk of showing how much of a novice I am, does this make the front axles positraction, meaning both wheels are getting power? I had a 67GTO rag top with posi rear end, and I could make beautiful J Stips with both rear tires leaving rubber on the pavement,is this what it does? Without it being locked in is the jeep like a regular 4x4 with power going to opposing wheels front to rear? Thanks for all of the help from everyone who took the time to help.
