I have a 95 wrangler that im putting 4.88's in and i figured since the diff is open i should put lockers in there too but i have been told that a locker cant be put in an open axle without buying new carriers....so my question is does anyone make a locker that can be put in a open axle like the one i have or do i have to buy new carriers for both axles?

With putting in the 4.88's you will have to get larger carriers for those gears. I believe the original carriers will hold up to 4.56 gears. Your lockers will simply replace the spider gears. That is what changes it from being open, to locked. Just have them done at the same time to save you money and time.

There are two main types of lockers: Those that replace just the spider gears: Lock-right, aussie locker, etc.. and those which replace/ take the place of the carrier: Detroit, ARB, OX..etc. All of them do the same thing, just in different ways. If you have the know how to install gears then the locker will be easy. Thus depending which way you go you may or may not need a new carrier.

If at all possible im trying to avoid having to buy a new carrier because it puts price of everything a little higher then i was planning it to go. And i have the 4 cyl model so it comes stock with 4.11's so i believe that the carriers i have now can hold the 4.88's

Your right. You have reached the break over point of both carriers so you will not need to change them out for your gears. There's no reason you can't just slap a lock rite in the front and rear. The only reason you'd have to get a new carrier is if you had a factory Limited slip in the rear (unless you wanted to buy the ubber expensive lock right for that carrier.)

The final details finally come out.........lol..........knowing you had a four cylinder would have helped in my first response.
