Looking to lift my YJ.. THoughts?

So here's my YJ - just put new wheels on her.. I'd like to do a mild lift.. Im thinking running some 31 x 10.5 tires

What kind of lift do you all suggest? I don't want to spend a ton of coin...

What you guys think?

Someone said before "shackles work well". I don't know personally if they work well or not but I would say for your nice looking Jeep a 2-4 inch lift would be fine.

I wonder how far you can actually lift your rig without having to change the axles and what not.

I guess the real question would be, "How big can you go with stock?".

I wouldn't mind changing the springs as they are all stock and worn out - but correct - i dont want to deal with dropping the t case and stuff.

I believe both of our Jeeps would look even better with a small lift and 31's. I personally would want 33's but I don't want to have extra headaches

You don't want to do more than about an inch of shackle lift. This actually rotates your front a me forward more the higher you go. It will affect approach angles and alignment.

As far as the lift yes the 2" will be the most effective lift with no other mods needed. For the 4" lift its hit and miss from Jeep to Jeep. Some people get by with just a TC drop. I have 4" lift and I run 33's with only a TC drop and the axle shims that come with the kit. There is little vibrations but not sure if its my tires or he driveline cause its barely noticeable.

Zone 2" Lift with 30" Tires

Before:

After:

After with 1" Body Lift:

Will probably go to 31s or 32s at some point.

I highly recommend the Zone 2" Kit, BTW. The Zone 2" was $540 from Fueled4x4 on eBay.

Also, buy a kit for the frame to shackle bushings - I don't believe that any of the suspension lift kits include those bushings. I bought a Daystar Kit for those.

2" BDS with 5/8" MORE shackles. 31x10.5 duratracs. I love the stance, and the Jeep rides amazing on & off-road. Highly recommend this kit.

Did you have to change shocks too?

BTW, after install, I netted 3 to 3.5" of lift because my old springs were sagging. My rig is fairly light, so others may not see that much lift.

Was it a pretty straight forward installation?

Yes, it was pretty easy - just follow the instructions. My Jeep is rust free, which helps. Install will be 4-8 hours.
