Loss of Clutch pressure??

Today i jumped in the jeep and the clutch pedal went straight to the floor without much pressure at all. It was fine when i parked it yesterday, it still funtions fine and shifts fine but engages and disengages about an inch off the floor board.

I checked the M.C. and i could barely see any fluid in it at all. Is their anything else i should check for??

I will pick up some DOT 3 tomorrow and top it off, hopefully that will solve the issue.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

That fluid reservoir needs to be full. Top it off and see if that doesn't solve the problem before you start replacing things.

You need to find that leak first.

thanks. i did some reading and checked for fluid around the bell housing and didnt find any. The master cyl has residue on the outside of it like maybe it is leaking. I will check again after I top it off.

Thanks again.

Your going to need to bleed the system if the fluid gets to low.

And second would be slave if after a lot I mean a lot of pumping it doesn't build pressure.

Clutch goes when pulling up a hill your rpms go up but you can feel it slipping.
Those are first signs so if that don't happen no worries for a clutch.

Ok thanks, it doesnt slip and still shifts fine and if i pump it pressure comes back almost to normal. Just after it has sat for awhile their is barely any pressure.

Allrighty, don't worry about just getting started with a Jeep. The only thing in my favor is I'm a retired Machine Mechanic and can relaye a lot to it. Good luck.

Sounds like air in the system.
