Lost 5th Gear but Clip is still there.

I ran into a problem shortly after I bought this 90 Jeep Wrangler back in Feb. It has the 4 cyl and the ax-5 transmission. In April I lost 5th gear while driving down the highway, I have just used 4th since then and started researching what could be wrong. I figured it was the c-clip on the shaft that holds the 5th gear in place. Finally I got some time and started tearing it down last night and found out the c-clip was still there and 5th gear was still in place. What could the problem be? No 5th gear an no broken clip.

I have the same problem with my 1995 YJ. No 5th gear and when I press the clutch in it makes a squealing sound. I put it in the shop today for them to look at. They are currently thinking it is the slave cylinder. But they haven't puled it apart yet.

What is needed to convert from AX-5 to AX-15? What parts and mods?
