Angry loud bang under jeep when turning or going up driveway incline

i have an 88 jeep yj and lately and loud bang has developed from under the jeep. i believe it is coming from the center or rear of jeep. it happens mostly when i turn left into my driveway or going along uneven surfaces. can anyone help with a diagnosis?

Go to a parking lot and do circles. Go left and right to see if you can narrow it down. Do you still have the D35? If so it might be going out depending on what you have on it. Mine pops or bangs when I turn right. But my spider gears in the D35 are missing two teeth.

Could check the U Joints in the front end too. I bad one will vibrate. A REALLY BAD ONE will snap, crackle and pop.

Thanks guys for the help. I was poking around and was turning the wheels back and forth on a patch of rough asphalt and noticed that the tie rod ends on my knuckles are now shot. Time for a hd upgrade!

Installed rugged ridge hd steering upgrade kit. It works flawlessly with no "dead spot" in the wheel. The kit in bought is the generation 2 kit that eliminates the need for spacers at the steering knuckles. My jeep has a 4" lift and the kit clears everything with no problem. Very happy. Clunking noise is diminished. Need new shackles now, but death wobble is gone.
