Lunges or jumps

My .jeep lunges or jumps when I am in 4 wheel lo at low speed in first gear .. Its all original and I just noticed it after I bought it when I took it off road. It has 97000 miles on it and never has been abused . Its a 4 cylinder 5 speed and was told it has a 410 rearend

It does that at really low rpms like 200. Does it only do it when on rocks or just starting 1st gear?

It's probably geared so low your not used to it. I don't even press the gas in 4lo 1st gear I just let the clutch out slow and I'm on original clutch 178k

Were you trying to make a turn while in 4low? If so that is normal due to the inside wheel traveling a shorter distance than the outside wheel.

Seems like at a low RPM . A bud told me it could be slack in the transfer case

You may not actually need 4L in those particular off road situations. They all jump a bit in 4L so that's normal. Try 4H and you'll most likely be fine. I've only needed 4L in extreme situations. Just in general, when was the last time your dif. fluids were changed?

I had it all changed when I bought it . It was a one owner and belong to a women that took super good care of it . Its my 3 rd jeep but the others were CJS that I wish I still had . This is a great site for Jeep lover
