Maintence required light on dash...

The jeep I just bought has the maintence required light illuminated on the dash. Is this just llike an oil life monitor? The owners manual didn't come with it, and I'd like to turn it off any ideas.

Thanks,

there is a thread about this subject. i can't find it. if you have a manual, look under emmissions. it will give you instructions on how to read codes which cause maintenance light it come on. i know that someone will get the info to you.

Thanks,
if you are talking about the image below then that means that there is some kind of problem. check this thread to learn how to check your codes: http://www.wranglerforum.com/f5/tj-error-codes-358.html. then check this link to see what the codes mean: Tech - TJ Error Codes - GETAHELMET.COM. if you have any other questions feel free to post the up.

Its not the check engine light and it just passed emmissions, so I don't believe it's emmissions related. It's a red dummy light that says "MAINT REQ'D"

At Approx. 82,500 miles it will go on to indicate that you need to replace your Oxygen Sensor and PCV.

I believe in the later models the light has to be cleared with a scan tool...Most parts stores can do it for you.
