Morning(cold) starting issue

My YJ has a hard time starting..once running she starts up and runs great. Leave it overnite and it just cranks and cranks. Did a semi rebuild of carb..thinking what else the problem could be....choke?

Try adjusting your choke. If you have an aftermarket carb you might want to consider a manual hook up.

If you took the choke housing off, you will have to readjust it and may have misaligned the internal spring. Pretty easy to miss the slot in the internal arm w/ the spring end.

A quick way to check is to take off the air cleaner when it's dead cold...blip the throttle & the choke flap should close almost fully. If it doesn't, then loosen the screws & turn the housing til it just closes fully. It turns both ways, one generates more/one less spring pressure. If your's doesn't, you missed the spring. Pully the cover off & realign the spring correctly between the tangs on the internal rod. Then reassemble & adjust as above. Start & warm up the engine.....the choke plate should now rotate into the open position if the wire is properly connected.

Hope this helps.
