Motorcraft 2100

Looking to change out my piece of crap Carter Carb and I've been reading that the Motorcraft 2100 is the way to go. Wheres the best place to get one? and is there a write up somewhere on how to replace one????? Thanks

I found this on eBay from a guy that looks like he knows what hes doing and it seems like a pretty reasonable price. Lots of options tho, like i know i need a downward pulling throttle linkage (auto), but what about choke? should that be manual or electric???? don't know too much about carbs so let me know what everyone thinks

Pretty sure the stock choke is electric. No reason to swap it to manual as it works pretty well as is.

From personal experience, I could never get this kit to run correctly. I bought the MC2100 from the same person on eBay and after 2 carbs, it still ran like crap. I could never get him on the phone for support and everyone I took it to attributed my issues to Vacuum leaks which I spent a small fortune of my time trying to fix. If you have the cash, invest in a TBI and you'll never look back at carbureted life.

True. The electric choke on the Carter will work just fine with the MC2100, except that you might have to reverse the coil inside the thermostat housing.

yea i figured the electric choke would work, just wondering i guess. Guy says he gives info for reversing the coil or i could just get a new one already installed on the carb for an extra 20. I think i might do it cause i really don't wanna do TBI and really don't have the money either. Seems that most people don't have a problem with the guy. Any other comments?

We put one on my son's CJ. I realize not quite the same application but it works well. I've been told to look for the 1.08 venturi model as the other are too much for that engine. Go look in junk yards. I think the early 80 Ford pickups with the six have them.
