Hi all, After sitting on a shelf for about a year I finally installed my MSD 6A onto my 89 YJ with a 258 and Howell TBI. Running stock distributor. It seems to run fine once I get it running but I'm having a hard start issue. So with the Howell I've thought about the tach adapter but don't think that's it. I've got the MSD tach output going straight to the Howell and seems to be working fine. So what I found is if I completely remove power from the MSD and then plug it back in the Jeep fires right up. If I don't, it will crank for a long time and may start or may not. I tried removing just the power to the thin red wire that is attached to the old coil positive and that didn't do it. If I completely remove battery power to the MSD and plug it back in it fires right up. Any ideas? Defective ignition unit? Thanks!
