my bad exhaust review

The other day driving home my exhaust got very rattly and then really loud. rusted and broke right off. stopped at local speed shop and bought a thrush basic performance muffler for 30 dollars. when i went to install i noticed catalytic converter rattling inside and with a light i could see honeycomb was pretty bad. i got another pipe from napa 2 1/4" and cut to 18" and removed cat and still used my tailpipe. now im riding dirty but my jeep has some power. i know im gonna have to fix it right to stay legal but its strange how restricted the stock exhaust really is. Oh, and the thrush muffler is a bit loud so my review of no cat and thrush is good power but loud and final cost was 40.00 was worth it.

Just added the 4.0 throttle body today and now jeep rips pretty good. couple of points ide like to make is anyone doing this will need tamperproof torx. You will need to swap TPS and IAC valve and housing. There is a little bit of a lip inside lower portion of Tb. Im thinking i might have to remove again and break out my diegrinder.

How does the 2.5 sound without the cat? I have heard some people say it sounds ricey but didn't believe it. Does it sound good or just annoyingly loud?

I've been without a cat for awhile now and it seems fine. It is a little louder (sort of a throaty sound, but deeper than the ricers) and the engine seems stronger too. I just a local cheapo muffler with straight pipes to the manifold.

Got around to gasket matching the 4.0 throttle body and the intake. Between the free flow exhaust and the intake my jeep is now faster than old volvo's. Just the other day i was at a redlight and this grandma pulled up in the other lane in a volvo 240. soon as the light changed i had her, no way could she keep up with the awesome new found power my wrangler has

but seriously, great mod to do.

For us novices, could you go deeper into the throttle body upgrade. I just heard about it yesterday and am quite interested.

just find a 4.0 with a throttle body in the junk yard. There are 4 10mm bolts holding it down so you will need a 1/4" ratchet, a small extention, and deep 10 socket. bring a flathead screwdriver aswell to help with intake hose removal. thats all you need to remove it. There are two electrical componants which need to be swapped from the original to the new one(connectors are different). youll need tamperproof torx to swap. Its basically a nuts and bolts job. not very difficult at all and worth it. i paid 25.00 for the tb and a set of never used tow hooks off another truck that was sitting there.

As soon as i get the chance ill throw the gtech on and see what my 0-60 is.

Today i ran a 0-60 using my gtech and ended up doing it in 12.06 seconds and thats with 31" tires. i googled and found times of around 14 seconds 0-60 with stock setup. so i dropped about 2 seconds to 60 but that approximate cause i didnt test my actual jeep before.
