My first Jeep problems

Hey Jeepers. My brother and I decided to get a jeep. He did a bit off-roading back in our country. He likes it, and drew me into this; and guess what, the more I learn about jeeps, the more I become obsessed with them, like probably many of "US" are (US because we are registered on this site). Since I am a beginner, I'll probably be asking all types of Jeep kinder-garden questions OK, lets get to the point. We got the jeep (its a '95 YJ, 4 speed (not really sure why 4 not 5), 4x4). It runs ok, but think I've noticed, it downshifs into 2nd and requires double-clutching, not all the time though. What might it be, anyone knows? Another a thing is when it goes on 3rd and its about 28-32mph it makes this rough noise (bhoooo) on the back, and when it goes more then 30mph it runs fine. It has a bit of oil on the back axle, but it does not drip. Anyone knows anything?
Thank you in advance
UA Jeeper
P.S. It has 4" spring kit with upgraded gas shocks and 2" Shackles.

I didn't think Jeep offered a 4 speed in 95. Perhaps you've lost a gear?

Define double clutching? If it's what I think you're referring to, double clutching like is done in a semi, then the synchro is probably gone and considering your other symptoms I would suggest the tranny needs a rebuild.

The bit of oil on the axle could be from something leaking up front and splashing back there or more likely, the seal on the pinion shaft is getting a bit worn and in need of being replaced.

I've asked the previous owner, he said that he had it since he had the car. He probably had for about a year or two. Could it be a different tranny? As far as double-clutching, when for example I get to the Stop sign but not getting to a complete stop and the jeep is at a good speed for the second gear, sometimes I need clutch twice in order to put in 2nd.
As far as the seal, if I take it out, will the oil spill out not? Also, does oil in axles get changed? If yes, how often?
Also, I've gotten some info that the noise/ vibration could be because of the pinion angle due to the lift.
