Need help with lift options

So the question is should I go with a 4" suspension lift and replace the driveshaft and such or should I just do a 2.5 suspension with a 2" body lift

The difference in price through rough country is about $600

first off, you don't need a new driveshaft. a tcase drop will suffice. and you don't need to spend the 50 bucks for one, just buy some spacers from home depot.. to that take care of some $$ there. the rest is just based on what you want. i have a bl on mine that i'll be taking off at some point, but i've read it's a nightmare to do thanks to rusted bolts etc...so i'd just go for the suspension lift.

I heard with a 4in suspension lift it puts a lot more torque on the drive shaft and yoke and breaks them in little time

can't say i've heard this. you may want to search out some thread posts by ibuildembig. i would call him one of the lift experts on this board and he has yet to do a sye conversion on any lift he's installed no matter the height.

My rc 4 in lift came with the drop spaceers. Full lift on eBay . It's a Lil rough but its a jeep.

I would go for the 4in. Suspension lift and if a daily driver also get Slip Yolk Eliminator (which also needs drive shaft replacement. If you do not daily drive it you may elect to skip the slip yolk eliminator and drive shaft change and tolerate a little drive shaft. Vibration.

No drive line mods, other than what's in the kit. Had to take bend out of the shifter to clear my counse. Lil heat and some muscle.

The reason I went with an SYE and always recommend one. It's not something you have to do and 99% of Jeep owners don't have this problem, but it *does* happen.

Hmm I'm still not sure what to do thanks for all the input I'll probably end up with the 4in and doing the yoke and driveshaft...my little brother has his heart set on having it for his first vehicle and it would probably make it a little safer

I have a 6in lift. 4in Rough Country suspension and 2in shackles. It came with the T-case drop and I have no problems. I run 33s and there are no vibrations at all.

And sadly it wasn't a trail disaster. That was just driving down the road. It also took out my muffler, but it could have been worse. If your rear driveshaft goes, yes you can throw it in four wheel drive to get home but not a great idea when your transfer case fluid is draining out. Thus now if I ever do have a problem with my rear driveshaft again, I don't have to worry about it emptying out.

Once again, a *vast* majority of people will be fine with a TC drop and usually a SYE is only for those that either want to get their breakover angles higher or to eliminate issues with vibrations if the TC drop doesn't work. I'll never wheel without an SYE though based on my experience. That would have brought the suck if I were out in the middle of the woods somewhere.
