Question Need help with tops

I have just bought my first jeep.I love it. It is a Sahara 4.0 yj and I have a stock hardtop that has never been taken off. When I take it off I have a feeling the weatherstripping is going to be ruined. Is there anyway I can prevent it from getting ruined, if it does get ruined what should I do? I have also been looking into buying one of these

Bestop Strapless Safari Bikini, Windjammer, Duster Deck Cover & Windshield Channel Kit Black Denim 52529-15KW2

Any reviews on that summer combo kit? Thank you!

Go to an auto parts store and get a roll of weather stripping. It's cheap enough and if its never been changed it could probably use it.

Welcome to the forum!

Go ahead and pull it off there are several aftermarket options for resealing the hard top later. I dont even use a gasket on mine when switching from a soft to hard top.

I have that same combination on my '91 YJ. Love it. I sold my hardtop, didn't like the closed in feeling and since I'm in central Florida, didn't need it much for heat. Good luck with the Jeep.

How is it in the rain? I know its not waterproof but how bad is it if your driving in the rain?

What is it like driving without weatherstripping? Doesn't it get pretty noisy?

My Jeep is noisy with or without weatherstripping

Your local home center would be another source for weatherstripping if you decide you need it.

I have the bikini top and windjammer, but only drive my Jeep during good weather.

Just took mine off for the first time ever. The weatherstripping stayed attached to the top,
both sides in one piece. No probs there.
When you re-install make sure the rubber in the front corners are seated properly.

My hardtop has no weatherstripping between it and the tub. Never had any leakage problems.

Do you have any between the windshield and top?
