I have a 1993 Jeep Wrangler 4.0L. My fuel pump is going and sending unit already is stuck on E meaning something happened to the float.

Are all 87 to 95 20 gallon fuel pumps and sending units the same?

What brand is the best fuel pump brand, bosch or? I don't want to drop the tank again next year to another failed pump.

My jeep only has 89,000 miles on it and spent most its life in hawaii so its rust free. After this last year in cold wisconsin weather few electronics failed and no shocker the fuel pump is dying since I no longer have power like I used to.

Any feedback would be awesome!

The fuel gauge being stuck on E is not necessarily indicative of a bad float...It could be the gauge itself or merely a bad ground.
If you're losing power slowly and gradually, it's probably not the fuel pump. It COULD be the fuel filter (in-line) or the sock filter on the end of the pump.
Check the fuel pressure at the valve on the fuel rail and it will give you an indication of the condition of the fuel pump.
But if you want to replace it, i would go with the Bosch.

I have a Bosch on mine. BEWARE! 93 was a crossover year. I ran around a couple times before I figured out mine is a 93 year but it was built in late 92, and the 92 pump is different than the 93. My best advice is to take the old pump with you to the auto parts store and make sure you get the right one.

I have a 20 gallon plastic tank but thats good to know about cross over year.

I put a brand new fuel filter on 500 miles ago. I took out all my gauges last week and cleaned them up of corrosion but really wasn't much at all.

I have been dealing with this for a while and its the fuel pump going since it doesn't always make the correct pressure at start up but once started she runs fine. Just doesn't have the power it used to have. Fuel pump is just played its role and its old.

I just replaced my stock fuel injectors due to 2 failing injectors. This was well before I started having hard starts and loss of power.

Can I repair my float if its stuck on E or should I just buy a whole new sending unit?

Any clue how I can check my VIN for manufacture date?
